Background

Duane Cook received a degree in economics from the University of North Carolina in 1976 and received his law degree from the University of Virginia in 1979. He began his legal career with Greenebaum, Doll & McDonald (now Bingham Greenebaum Doll) in Louisville, was a partner at Brown Todd & Heyburn (now Frost Brown Todd) in Lexington and was a shareholder and managing director of Newberry Hargrove & Rambicure, also in Lexington. Duane had a successful solo practice for 18 years before founding Duane Cook & Associates in 2011, which grew into Cook & Watkins, PLC after an early 2016 merger. Duane represents a variety of businesses and entrepreneurs, including lenders, venture capital firms, manufacturers, developers, attorneys, law firms, and energy producers. His practice includes business litigation, federal and state appeals, sales and acquisitions, and nearly all the legal issues confronting his business clients. Duane has been admitted to the Bars of the Federal Courts of Appeal for the Fourth, Sixth and Seventh Circuits, as well as to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court.
